Most of my friends asked me this question. To let you know, Lucky is my dog.
I had considering taking him with me as it'll be a pretty long time stay over there. So I checked everywhere to find the best price and the best solution, and I can assume that there's no "good and safe" way to bring a pet in French Polynesia from France. First, it's (at least) a 22 hours journey, and it means your pet (all more than 5 kilos) will have to stay locked in a cage, in the cargo hold. Then, it will have to stay a full month in a quarantine station, which cost is estimated at 3,000 euros and where you can't go visit it.
Some people say they lost their pets, or found them back terribly weak and changed.
I quickly gave up on this idea, considering that I'm very lucky to also have a lovely mom who can take care of him, and has time to kiss, cuddle, love, feed and walk him with love. My dear lovely friend Diane also offered to pass by sometimes and look after him with Mom, so I'm 100% confident that he'll have all the love he deserves.
And I still can see him on Skype right ?!
If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, I'll keep you in my heart, you'll stay there forever
